Mexico Trip Not School Sanctioned

Posted on Friday, May 7th, 2010

Dear Parents,

The company “S-Trip” is again promoting its services as a school/student spring break trip agent and recruiting students to distribute and promote the company’s brochures near school properties. We recently pushed the agent off to the other side of 16th avenue.

Its brochure and method of distribution promotes the impression the offered Mexico trip is sanctioned by the school and the district. By using students to distribute the information, particularly on school property, you, the parents, could incorrectly assume this trip is organized by the school and therefore subject to school and district safety clearances, processes, supervision, and overview.

We would like to be clear that S-Trip is in no way associated with, nor endorsed by our school or the School District and there is no school or district-involved safety measures for the trip.

Sincerely,
Peter Johnston
Principal

Grad Parent Letter

Posted on Friday, April 16th, 2010

Dear Parents and/or Guardians of Graduates,

Over the course of this school year, I have been clear in distinguishing between the graduation events which are school-sponsored and the graduation events which are not. As we are embarking on the final weeks of your child’s formal education, I wish to re-iterate this important distinction.

During the next few weeks, we will be hosting a “Grad Breakfast” at EMS (date and time to be determined). The Grad Breakfast is a school-sponsored event. The Graduation Dinner and Dance at the Hyatt Regency is a school-sponsored event and, obviously, the Commencement Ceremony at the Chandos Pattison Pavillion is a school-sponsored event.
