2009/2010 Graduation Transitions

Hello Grade 12 Students and Parents!

Welcome back to Earl Marriott! I hope that you have a wonderful adventure in your final year of high school and build memories that will last you a life time. As you know, in order to graduate, all grade 12 students must complete their Graduation Transitions. To assist our graduates, the district has helped schools create three booklets to meet the three required elements of the Graduation Transitions Plan. Due to enviromental awareness and budget constraints set on us from the Ministry, e are trying to not waste paper and booklets, so I would like to ask that Grads go to the following links to print off the booklets:

The January Graduation Transitions deadline is Friday, January 22. 2010. In order to receive an RM (requirement met) on the February (first semester) report card, students must hand in their Graduation Plan and be interviewed by the due date. It may be necessary to have the Graduation Transitions completed by January for those who want to apply for scholarships and early admissions to post secondary institutions – especially in the United States. It’s worth getting it done early. Once you have the package complete, please hand it in to our Vice Principal Ms. Bunyan at any time or Mr. To in Block B. You will need to complete an exit interview when you hand in the packages.

On the February report card, students who have not completed the Plan would have received a comment and an attachment reminding them that it needs to be finished in order for the student to graduate. Most post secondary institutions did not penalize grade 12s who have not completed their Graduation Transitions Plans when considering early admissions last year. At this time, however, we are unsure about this year. It is beneficial for every grad to get this done as soon as possible.

The final deadline for completion is Friday, April 30, 2010. Graduation Transition Plans need to be completed and handed into me in the Athletic Office by this date or they will not be marked. Of course, they can be handed in anytime before that as well.

Students and parents who have questions about the Graduation Transitions Plan can email Daniel To at to_d@sd36.bc.ca or call at 604 542 2177.
